Designer Bedroom

"Create a Designer Bedroom in
an Afternoon for less than $200...."

There is a fine line between over doing a bedroom, and creating the designer bedroom look.

Unless a home decorator is going for the Dorm or Shaker look, it is difficult to know when to stop buying bedding.

The first thing a home decorator should decide is whether they want the room to look decorated, or fit the simplistic design scheme.

The Contemporary, Victorian, Cottage, Retro, or Costal living design schemes employ full bedding sets that include linen bed skirts, shams, curtains with tie backs, and throw pillows.

Contemporary, Dorm, Shaker, Continental - including Italian and European, and Colonial styles use simpler bedding sets in Sateen and Sateen stripes, Swiss Dot, and high thread count Egyptian cotton.

Affordable Quality Bedding

The best thing about creating a designer bedroom is that today's quality bedding collections are affordable.

It is now possible to purchase a 100% Egyptian Sateen stripped bedding set for less than $100.00.

Take a few minutes to check out an online bedding store to see what is available. In many cases, home designers will not need to replace furniture, art, or even paint.

Changing the linen bedding and bedding design style in a room can drastically change the design scheme. One of the first steps is to select a comforter set.

Make sure that it includes everything needed for a decorated look, including the linen bed skirt.

Nine, Eleven, and Fifteen piece comforter sets will include everything needed to create a designer look without investing hours trying to match sheets and accessories.

When selecting the comforter set, the bedding is not as important as making sure the set includes a  linen bed skirt, also called a dust ruffle.  Make sure that the accessories that come in the comforter set are linen.

It is easy to buy high quality linen bedding to go with a comforter set.  However, it takes a little thought.  A 100% Egyptian or PIMA cotton, 600 thread count, linen bedding set now costs around $100.00 if it is purchased online.

However, the effect is ruined the sheets rest on anything but a linen bed skirt.

Sateen Stripe

Quality, linen bed skirts with a Satin finish, can finish off a Sateen stripe or solid Egyptian cotton set.  This makes it possible to change bedding color and style through the year to prevent visual fatigue in a room.

A Tuscany style comforter set can be set off with an Ecru or even a pink Sateen sheet set. This small touch can add a Colonial or Contemporary look to a bedroom, without changing the furniture, or accessories.

Focusing a bedroom's design on the bedding is a cost effective way to maintain a bedroom's designer look.  This is one of the design world's best kept secret.

Matching a high quality comforter set that includes a linen bed skirt with a 100% Egyptian cotton, 800 thread count sheet set, creates a designer look for less than $200.00.

But, only when purchasing from an online store. Online shopping has brought a new dimension to home decorating.  Quality bedding costs two and three hundred dollars in a specialty store or department store.

The same set, for a king size, and even California king sized bed, costs about $110.00, including shipping and a 100% refund policy.

One last thing, do not worry about the look or quality of the comforter. A duvet cover can also be used on a comforter.  This makes the design possibilities endless.

In the winter, the room can have a Colonial or European look by adding a white, Sateen stripped duvet cover, and removing the linen bed skirt. In the summer, add a floral duvet, replace the linen bed skirt, ad a few extra pillows, and the room has a Country or Costal Living design.
